Dark Lass winning on Thursday 24 June 2021 at Pinjarra Racecourse

Distance to suit Dark Lass

Three-year-old filly Dark Lass will be hoping to add to her victory last start when she steps out in the Seacorp Handicap (1650m) at Belmont Park tomorrow.

By Redoute’s Choice, out of Dark Miss, she was able to relish the softer conditions at Pinjarra and win narrowly at Pinjarra Park last start after two previous third-place finishes.

Stepping up from 1400m to 1650m looks as though it will be extremely beneficial for her and make her hard to beat.

She has shown that she is able to sit a bit closer than the usual cerise and white runners, but from barrier 11 it would be no surprise to see her angled out towards the back of the field and asked to demonstrate a strong turn of foot late.

While she comes into the race with winning form, so do two other runners with Olden and Titian Queen both breaking their maiden tag last start.

William Pike who will ride Dark Miss, has another strong book of rides at Belmont Park tomorrow with six other engagements.
