Staying test for God Has Chosen

Emerging four-year-old talent God Has Chosen will have another test thrown his way when he steps up to 2000m for the first time in the Group 3 Furphy-Strickland Stakes (2000m) at Belmont Park on Saturday.

Trained by Lindsey Smith, he has continued to progress this campaign with victories in a benchmark 72+ and 78+ and tasting his first group success when victorious in the Belmont Sprint.

Jumping as the short-priced favourite last start in the Group 3 Hyperion Stakes over 1600m, he was held up slightly, but still attacked the line strongly to finish second behind Kaptain Kaos.

The Strickland will give connections a great guide of his staying ability as they set their sights on some bigger races later in the year.

For now, there is no doubt that the Group 1 Railway Stakes is the main target, but if he can settle nicely on Saturday, then the Kingston Town Classic and Perth Cup could also become options for the former Albany based galloper.
