Three Secrets drops in class and reunites with Shaun McGruddy

Punting Form race reports: Wednesday 7 August

It will have been 648 days since Three Secrets broke his maiden when he lines up in Wednesday's Perth Racing Club Membership Handicap but the Steve Wolfe-trained gelding, which defeated Roganella and Showcase in his one and only victory, finds himself in what is probably the weakest race of his career.

According to Punting Form, the two-year personal best of Three Secrets, which he achieved in the 2017 Sky Racing-WA Guineas, is the pick of the Perth Racing Club Membership Handicap field. The Wolfe yard is going through a lean spell - only three of the stable's last 50 starters have saluted the judge - but the Albany-based trainer sent out Go Crying on Saturday and he ran extremely well first up without a trial. Three Secrets has not trialled ahead of his first run since April so Wolfe is taking the same tack with him. Each of the last three gallopers highlighted in this series of articles - Essential Spice, Next Stop The Moon and Uni Time - has won, paying TABtouch tote dividends of 1.70, 2.20 and 3.70 respectively.
