Ascot Racecourse will host Perth’s biggest New Year’s Day party at the TABtouch Perth Cup helped along by new Perth Cup Ambassador Nikki Gogan and ending in local favourite San Cisco on stage for a live performance.
It’s a Perth New Year’s Day party not to be missed, and this year, there’s plenty on offer for Perth Cup enthusiasts, racing fans and novices to Perth Cup alike.
Perth Racing Managing Director John Yovich said the Perth Cup first started in 1887 and has a long and proud history.
“The Perth Cup is the absolute highlight of the summer racing carnival, and the first major social event of the New Year in Western Australia and this year will be no different – it will be an action-packed day full of top-quality racing, food and entertainment,” Yovich said.

“This year we are excited to announce we will have a Perth Cup Tour on display at Crown Perth Sports Bar from 22 – 29 December. Crown visitors and Perthites will be able to pop in to the Sports Bar to grab a glimpse of the stunning gold plated trophy, grab a selfie and catch a glimpse of Perth Cup history. Ascot Racing Carnival epitomises the ultimate day out in Perth by providing truly unique day at the races. Ms Gogan, a frequent racegoer, said she was excited to get her friends together to celebrate a quality day of racing, fashion and entertainment at Ascot.
“I love the Perth Cup and have always made it my New Year’s priority to be there. My top tip for ringing in the New Year at Perth Cup is to dress fashionably yet comfortable, stay hydrated, and make sure you get a shaded spot on course to meet up with your friends throughout the day,” Ms Gogan said.
“And to keep the party going all day long – I would also suggest testing out some of the thirteen food trucks that will be on course to boost your energy levels, or perhaps enjoy a shaded gourmet picnic on the lawn – before heading over to see San Cisco after the last race,” she said.
The TABtouch Perth Cup is Perth’s best New Year’s Day party with a stellar line up and indie-pop tunes of San Cisco plus an exciting range of entertainment options. Crowds can hit the Red Bull Silent Disco, groove to reggae beats from Grace Barbe and the Crucial Rockers plus the tropical house tunes from DJ Veeness in our Oasis Marquee and acoustic tunes from Bright & Cutts on course for the day, regulars down at ‘The Left Bank’ in East Fremantle.
There are also plenty of food and beverage choices available on course, to suit every style and budget, ranging from a buffet lunch at The Terrace or 1900 Bar, a gourmet dining experience at Flying Colours, food and drinks at the newly styled Oasis Marquee, or food trucks galore from vendors such as That Food Truck, Kamal’s Quarter, Tikka Tango, Banana Leaf Filipino, Bokas Food, Mr Super Whipp, The Tapi truck, The Phat Pharoah and The Spunky Spud.
