Under the Radar: St Patrick's Raceday at Ascot - Friday 17 March

Race 2 - 2:40PM YELLOWGLEN PLATE (1200 METRES) – FULL FIELD

14. ROCKING ROSE

TABtouch opening price: $31

A filly by Slater, she infamously put on a buck jumping display on debut behind Achernar Star but her manners have since been ironed out.

The juvenile had a break after that and then won two trials in sharp time before returning to the race track to run an underrated fourth behind Royal Strata and Pure Gem.

She was green up the straight on that occasion when bumping with Retosona which is why the bubble cheekers go on.

She ran on well considering no runners made up ground on the far outside of the track.

The opening price from TABtouch is well over the odds.

Watch the improved run by the galloper in green and yellow colours:

Race 3 - 3:10PM HEINEKEN 3 MAIDEN (1200 METRES) – FULL FIELD

6 .FREECELL

TABtouch opening price: $19

A debutante out of the Stan Bates yard at Ascot, Freecell has some ability which Jason Whiting tried to keep under wraps in the recent trial.

After being sluggish away, the daughter of Demerit picked off a path through the field to loom up to the leaders but was then placed under restrain by Jason Whiting.

He is certainly worth a speck at each-way odds.

Keep a close eye out for the red cap which goes back early:

Race 4 - 3:40PM LAVAZZA HANDICAP (2100 METRES) – FULL FIELD

12. JOYOUS AFFAIR

TABtouch opening price: $23

After tracking a wide path for the entire trip last start behind Khawaja, the daughter of Trade Fair had no right finish only five lengths from the winner.

The filly will have no such trouble in the upcoming race after drawing perfectly in barrier one.

She has been missed by the bookmakers and is a great each-way bet.

Watch her last start effort when not beaten far after covering extra ground. She wears the red and yellow Impressive Racing silks:
