Key Runners: Ascot - Saturday 25 March

Expected weather: Mostly sunny 27°C

Expected track rating: GOOD4

Rail position: 9M

Race 1 - 1:18PM TABTOUCH PLATE (1000 METRES) – FULL FIELD

3. ROYAL STRATA has the runs on the board. She beat Pure Gem last start which has since won and is likely to head to the Karrakatta Plate and Sires' Produce. Form reads well and she will either lead or sit just off the speed like she did last start when winning.

8. ONE FINAL WERD had to work hard last start when on debut. She used up plenty of petrol to get outside of tearaway leader Cognac but battled on gamely for fifth. She will have improved for the run and race experience.

5. COUNTESS NATASHA comes out of the same race as Royal Strata. She box-seated on that occasion and came home well enough. She would have learned a lot form that trip to the races.

4. TIME AND TRUTH is the likely leader. She will go fast out in front and give them something to catch. Back to 1000m suits.

SUGGESTED SELECTIONS: 3-8-5-4

SUGGESTED BET: 3. Royal Strata – WIN & 4. Time And Truth – PLACE

Race 2 - 1:58PM AMELIA PARK HANDICAP (1500 METRES) – FULL FIELD

7. TERROR FORCE had genuine excuses last week when eased out of the race. The start before that behind Material Man was excellent. Great each-way chance.

5. SETTLERS CREEK should get the run of the race with the expected hot tempo up front. At his 16th start this preparation, he can go close to winning.

2. INFATHUATED will be lining up for the fourth time in as many Saturdays. Justin Warwick has him fit which was seen last week when he won with ease.

9. WATIJADOO has barrier two and rolling forward has been the key to his good form and success. With speed from So Who’s Harry, Flying Roar and Corporate Larrikin, he could be afforded the run of the race behind the speed and be there in the finish.

SUGGESTED SELECTIONS: 7-5-2-9

SUGGESTED BET: 7. Terror Force – EACH WAY

Race 3 - 2:35PM FIFTH LEG HANDICAP (1200 METRES) – FULL FIELD

5. BLACKLINE won ultra-impressively last start at Pinjarra by nine lengths. It was only a maiden but a repeat of that performance should see him win this.

9. GLIMMER GIRL just wants to pull and over-race over the longer distances so Grant and Alana Williams have decided to work with her and put the blinkers on and bring her back to a sprint trip. No doubt that Jerry Noske will fire her forward and let her burn along out in front.

1. MORE ACES has a race record which is hard to knock. Out to 1200m and up 2kg in weight won’t be an issue.

2. MINUS LOOKS has won twice in his career and both of those wins have been first up like he is today. He beat Caipirinha last preparation and should get a soft run behind the speed in this.

SUGGESTED SELECTIONS: 5-9-1-2

SUGGESTED BET: 9. Glimmer Girl – EACH WAY

Race 4 - 3:10PM MARJORIE CHARLESON CLASSIC (1200 METRES) – FULL FIELD

10. JESTAJINGLE’s first up effort was good when three-wide with cover. She is a fast mare with plenty of talent and will be running on strongly from midfield.

1. LET IT SLIP has never run a bad race when first up and was strangled in the recent trial which suggests that she is flying. Barrier one is ideal for her to slip up along the inside.

8. SECRET DOUBT hasn’t had an easy run in any of her races this preparation despite running commendably on all three occasions. She should find a nice spot midfield and be finishing off powerfully. The penny looks to have dropped this preparation.

5. CONSEATED won well first up before taking a quantum step up in grade last start. She wasn’t disgraced at all when second behind the fast Three Votes. This race looks ideal but she may be forced to lead and could make her vulnerable late.

SUGGESTED SELECTIONS: 10-1-8-5

SUGGESTED BET: 10. Jestajingle – EACH WAY

Race 5 - 3:45PM KARRAKATTA PLATE DAY NEXT SATURDAY HANDICAP (1200 METRES) – FULL FIELD

7. THREE VOTES has won his last two starts in almost effortless fashion. He won in this grade last start and the extra 200m should not be any issue.

10. MAX ALMIGHTY is likely to get a soft run near the back of the field. Expect Three Votes, Gigante and Smoko to roll along out in front and separate themselves from the rest of the field. Max Almighty is the one which could find a late turn of speed to run into a place.

3. GIGANTE may hold the fence and make Three Votes sit one off the rail with thanks to the inside draw. If not, he will get a lovely run behind Three Votes.

1. SMOKO’s only chance is if William Pike rolls forward on the seven-year-old. He can hold on to a place if they do.

SUGGESTED SELECTIONS: 7-10-3-1

SUGGESTED BET: 7. Three Votes – WIN

Race 6 - 4:25PM SCHWEPPES-MELVISTA STAKES (2200 METRES) – FULL FIELD

5. AT THE READY has the runs on the board over the 2200m. He also returns to his own age group after beating older and more seasoned horses at his last two starts. The gelding doesn’t carry the traditional form lines but he has proved that he can stay the trip.

4. DUKEAZZA sat third and in the breeze last start in the JC Roberts Stakes. He battled away very well to only be beaten a length and gets the blinkers on for raceday. That may give him a couple of extra lengths, especially with a softer run from the good draw.

7. FRIARESQUE was good to the line late in the JC Roberts. The inside draw is a massive advantage for jockey Troy Turner.

6. TRAP FOR FOOLS will roll along out in front. Lucy Warwick has the magic touch and can rate the gelding in front however she likes. The gelding is another which has the advantage of winning over 2100m.

SUGGESTED SELECTIONS: 5-4-7-6

SUGGESTED BET: 4. Dukeazza – EACH WAY & 5. At The Ready – EACH WAY

Race 7 - 5:00PM AUTO CLASSIC BMW HANDICAP (1600 METRES) – FULL FIELD

1. POLITICS won like a good horse last start in equal grade and over the same distance. He goes up 1kg but that shouldn’t be a factor. Class will prevail.

4. CAPPO D'ORO will win more races this preparation. His first up win was full of merit when wide for the majority of the race. Should go well again.

8. PADDY showed glimpses of his best last start when rocketing home behind Hakuna Matata for third. Hopefully he has found his groove this preparation because he has always shown glimpses of ability.

3. BERGIO was heavily backed first up and failed to fire a shot but punters got their cash back last start at juicy odds. If he gets around the tight Ascot track, he can be a factor in the race.

SUGGESTED SELECTIONS: 1-4-8-3

SUGGESTED BET: 1. Politics – WIN

Race 8 - 5:35PM J.J. RICHARDS & SONS HANDICAP (1100 METRES) – FULL FIELD

5. JESTPATIM has been racing in superb form since being placed with Kalgoorlie trainer Brett Mathews. The Esperance form is inferior form but Mathews wouldn’t bring him all this way for nothing. His last start at Ascot was nearly exactly two years ago.

7. PRESENTATIE is the obvious selection after a brilliant last start win. Sprint trips are her go and this looks another ideal opportunity to get some prize money.

6. CUANZO stormed home last start behind Dezzies Dream and has good form behind Man Booker and Red Paddy. Not to forget his win five starts ago when he beat Three Votes.

10. RHI'S ROCKET’s last start effort was a forgive run. He had to do too much early. He should be fit enough to run well from the good draw.

SUGGESTED SELECTIONS: 5-7-6-10

SUGGESTED BET: 5. Jestpatim – EACH WAY & 7. Presentatie – WIN
