Our fashion runway competition is open to men’s and women’s categories, with fantastic prizes on offer. Join us as a competitor or as a spectator on Saturday 20 April 2024 at Ascot Racecourse.

While our Fashions on the Field runway competition is free to enter, you will need to purchase a General Admission ticket to enter Ascot Racecourse. If you would like to upgrade your raceday, you can also book a ticket to our Enclosure on the Deck trackside party, which includes a food and beverage package.

Where and when will the Fashions on the Field competition be held?
The competition will be held at Ascot Racecourse in the Bookmakers' Pavilion on The Quokka at Ascot Racecourse. All entrants are required to check in with Perth Racing staff at the registration desk. The registration desk will be open from 10:45am-12:15pm.
How does the competition work?
We will run a heat for the men's and women's categories. Each entrant will walk the runway for a panel of judges. The judges will critique and score each entrant on their Autumn racewear styling and runway personality. Depending on the number of entrants in each category, we may announce a series of finalists who will take to the runway for a second time for another round of judging. For each category, there will be a first prize winner, a runner-up and a second runner-up.
Who is on the judging panel?
Louanne Ward is a Master Certified Matchmaker, dating expert, podcast host and writer.
Ross McRae has worked in the media industry for over 20 years and is currently Editorial Projects Editor at Seven West Media WA.
Chaynika is the founder of the Perth Fashion Club, a pioneering initiative that fosters connection, collaboration, and unity within the Australian fashion community.
What is the judging criteria?
Both categories will be judged on style and originality, attention to detail and cohesiveness, interpretation of current fashion trends, grooming and deportment. In keeping with the sophistication of racewear, outfits should avoid excessive skin exposure, short hems and plunging necklines. Headwear is strongly encouraged in both categories.
What are the prizes?
The winner in each category will receive a sash, a bouquet of flowers, as well as a bespoke prize valued at up to $1,000. The runner-up and second-runner up in each category will receive a sash and a bespoke prize.
First prize - both categories
$500 Amelia Park beef and lamb voucher, Peninsula Dining Room voucher for two with deluxe beverage package, Quokka merchandise and gift bag.
Second prize - both categories
iFLY voucher, experience for two people (valued at $270), Belmont Park Reserved Table for two (excluding beverages), Quokka merchandise and gift bag.
Third prize - both categories
$200 Fraser's Restaurant voucher, Quokka merch and gift bag.
