Mr Brilliant

Looking for brilliance again

Three-year-old gelding, Mr Brilliant, will be looking for another strong performance when he steps out in race 9 at Belmont Park on Wednesday.

The gelding by Mashino was an impressive winner last start, sitting just behind the leaders and finishing strongly over 1600m.

Despite paying $18, the victory came as no surprise with his two prior runs demonstrating that he had some ability.

At Pinjarra Park two starts before his victory, he raced on speed, finishing third over 1400m and showing signs of a horse that wanted to stretch out in trip.

Next start he found himself back in the field and was beaten by 2.5 lengths over the 1650m at Belmont, demonstrating that racing on speed was more preferred.

His victory last start demonstrated that he likes races that are run with a genuine tempo and that he could potentially want further again.

Shaun McGruddy who rode him last start, elects to stay with him despite Bell Lap being in the race, a horse that he won on two starts ago and has ridden for his last four starts.
