Marocchino Wins Diggers Cup at Ascot Racecourse 24 April 2021

Parnham picks up plum ride

The states leading jockey, Chris Parnham, has picked up the ride on Marocchino in the 78+ Eurythmic Stakes (2150m) at Ascot on Saturday.

The four-year-old gelding has won his last three races which have included a 72+ 2200m at Ascot, the Albany Cup and the Diggers Cup.

William Pike has been in the saddle for all of those three victories, but with Pike away, Lou Luciani was quick to lock in Parnham.

Parnham has stepped up this season and has now ridden over 150 winners in 2020/21 and brought up his 100th metro winner of the season at Ascot on Wednesday.

For a 78+ event, the depth of the race is certainly there with two Group 1 winners taking their place - Come Play With Me and Trap For Fools.

Parnham has eight rides on Saturday with many of them looking extremely hard to beat.
