Born to Try

Ready to try at Ascot

Born To Try looks to have found the perfect race to register her third career victory in when she steps out at Ascot tomorrow in the Quayclean Handicap (1600m).

A four-year-old mare by Blackfriars, she has been ultra-consistent this preparationsince joining the Lindsey Smith stable.

Last start, the mare enjoyed a good battle with the eventual winner Chiclett, but was unable to get past her at Bunbury.

Leading jockey Chris Parnham will take the ride and he will be forced to make some crucial decisions through the early stages of the race with the mare drawn barrier 8 in a 9-horse field.

So far this preparation, she has shown versatility in being able to push forward or settle worse than midfield through the early stages.

There does appear to be a few speed options in this race, so it would be no surprise to see her settle just off them before trying to rally past the leaders late.
