Cockney Crew's connections have high hopes for their black type-placed galloper
Scintillating franked Cockney Crew's form after being the subject of Wednesday's Punting Form race reports analysis and it would take a very brave punter to bet against last season's Schweppes-WATC Derby runner-up winning Saturday's Western Racepix Belmont Horse of the Year Handicap.
Before nominations in November, Cockney Crew would have to be among this term's TABtouch-Perth Cup favourites because he is proven over 2,400 metres, he may get into the Group Two contest on the minimum weight and, according to Punting Form, his first-up performance was outstanding from start to finish. Kieran McDonagh has elected to keep Cockney Crew at 1,600m and he loses Jade McNaught's claim with Peter Hall resuming his partnership with the four-year-old gelding but, because he rises in grade in Saturday's Western Racepix Belmont Horse of the Year Handicap, his weight falls.
