PR TipStar - 2018 Ascot Racing Carnival Round Three and Round Four wrap

The third and fourth rounds of the PR TipStar - Ascot Racing Carnival tipping competition concluded this week and, again, we saw how tipping a roughie with a player's big bet can pay off in spades. Saturday's Round Three winner, AllonBlack, did exactly that.

AllonBlack tagged his big bet on Lord Greystoke in the second at Ascot Racecourse, giving him a score that equates to $50 each way on the tote. The Neville Parnham-trained three-year-old ended up paying $13.20 for the win and $5.60 for the place on the TABtouch tote, giving the Round Three winner a 940-point boost up the leaderboard.

But there were many more hits on the scoreboard for AllonBlack which gave him the top score on the day.

Over the entire eight-race program, AllonBlack found four winners and two placings to score an impressive 1,190 points. That effort represented a super-impressive 213 per cent profit on turnover, which means he more than tripled his money on the day using the staking plan applied in the tipping competition.

That result pushed AllonBlack to second spot on the leaderboard, with a total score of 2,036 points.

With the Melbourne Cup on this week, an additional competition round played out on Tuesday. This time there were no big bets on triumphant long shots of which to speak but there was certainly no shortage of punters finding winners and placings all over the Ascot Racecourse card.

The winner in Round Four was daygp. A ridiculously accurate day of tipping on Melbourne Cup Day saw this punter reel in seven winners on the nine-race program at Ascot Racecourse.

His nearest rival from the media was West Australia's top racecaller, Darren McAullay, who tipped five winners and one placing on the nine-race Melbourne Cup Day program.

These two rounds did not change the overall leader, with BJF77 now almost 1,600 points clear of his nearest rival.
