Race 1 12:38 TABtouch Maiden (1,200m) – Bet with TABtouch

5 EXCELLENT JERRY (TABtouch opening price: 6.00)

Randy Tan is one of Western Australia’s top apprentice jockeys but his ride of Excellent Jerry over 1,200m at Belmont Park two weeks ago was not one of his best, leading at a tempo that was about three lengths faster than the class benchmark.

Excellent Jerry compounded in the straight to finish a six-length third of 12 on her reappearance, which was a mighty fine effort in the circumstances – only Multiverse and subsequent winner Saverio swooped past her in the latter stages.

William Pike reunites with Excellent Jerry and it was the Wizard who partnered her over 1,200m at Ascot Racecourse in April when she recorded her best-ever speed figure. Pike has ridden nine metropolitan winners already this season.

Race 6 3:52 Crown Perth Handicap (2,000m) – Bet with TABtouch

9 DANEHILLS DAUGHTER (TABtouch opening price: 9.50)

TABtouch opened its market on the Crown Perth Handicap with Jetoomy at the head of affairs but the speed ratings of Justin Warwick’s galloper have regressed since early July and he rates as one of the lays of the Belmont Park meeting.

Danehills Daughter has won three Belmont Park staying contests on the spin during Perth Racing’s winter season, completing her hat-trick when defeating, among others, Jetoomy and Verdello Blue over 2,200m six weeks ago.

Yes, Danehills Daughter is up in grade again but she possesses the best speed figure in the field and she has more upside than her rivals having had just 12 starts. Racing from gate two off the limit weight of 54 kilograms are positives.

Race 7 4:30 The Carbine Club of WA-Apprentices’ Cup (2,200m) – Bet with TABtouch

6 BURGER TIME (TABtouch opening price: 4.80)

Burger Time, named because his owners are associated with McDonald’s, fried a midweek field over 2,100m at Belmont Park 17 days ago, winning by 5.8 lengths with 59 kilograms on his back much to Aaron Bazeley’s relief and delight.

Bazeley thought sufficiently highly of Burger Time to run him in the Aquanita Stakes and the Belmont Classic – both Listed races at Belmont Park in July – before sending him for what ended up being an easy kill in Class One company.

TABtouch installed Blackwood as its favourite to take out The Carbine Club of WA-Apprentices’ Cup but Burger Time ran almost two seconds faster than Fred Kersley’s galloper over the same trip last month despite encountering a softer track.
