Under the Radar: Belmont - Wednesday 5 July

Race 2 - 12:47pm Hahn Superdry Plate (1300 Metres) – Full Field

4. UNCLE CON

TABtouch opening price: $26

Uncle Con returns for David Harrison and is to be ridden by Frenchman Matthieu Autier.

The son of Econsul comes into the two-year-old event first up after a good trial, despite it reading seventh of 11 and beaten nearly six lengths.

Winner of the trial Outlaw One ran very sharp time of 56.19 over 950m in the Lark Hill trial on Monday 19 June so Uncle Con would have needed that hit out.

Go back to Uncle Con’s debut on Saturday 21 January, he was beaten only three lengths by Driftwood Girl and eventual Karrakatta Plate winner Lucy Mae after being snagged back to last and losing touch with the main body of the field.

He still managed to run on powerfully into sixth.

From barrier one, Autier should be close enough to hold a position and let the gelding go in the straight.

Race 3 - 1:22pm Salinger Handicap (1700 Metres) – Full Field

10. MISS RUMOUR MILL

TABtouch opening price: $20

Miss Rumour Mill has been running well recently but probably lacks the ability to go with some of the better gallopers she has bumped into.

One thing in her favour leading into the 1700m event is that she will be rock hard fit after already having 18 starts this preparation, the beginning of her preparation dating all of the way back to 24 November 2016.

That fitness will be needed to get through the rain-affected going expected on the Wednesday program.

Watch her brave effort from two starts ago behind Western Star (black and orange colours):

Race 5 - 2:35pm Thomas Sabo Handicap (2100 Metres) – Full Field

3. KOSTYAZILCH

TABtouch opening price: $31

Kostyazilch is another stayer with plenty of runs under his belt this preparation and should appreciate the softer going.

It was only four starts ago when the son of Musket finished under two lengths behind the in-form Rosewood Hill.

At his 12th start this preparation, expect the $31 chance with TABtouch to give one heck of a sight from barrier six.

Watch his effort when third behind Rosewood Hill four starts ago (light blue and red Maltese cross):
