Ascot turns it on for Chinese New Year

Perth crowds again hit the track today with LUCK on their minds. Nearly 4000 people came out and celebrated the 2017 Chinese New Year Raceday presented by Auto Classic BMW.  The event was opened by the Hon. Dr. Mike Nahan, MLA Treasurer; Minister for Energy; Citizenship and Multicultural Interests in celebration of this special lunar festival.

Chinese New Year Raceday continues to provide something for everyone and this year it had even more entertainment on and off the track. With lots to crow about it was a great event to welcome the Year of the Rooster.

The Auto Classic BMW Trophy was snatched for a photo finish by SALORSCI by a great WA father and son partnership in jockey Jarrad Noske and dad and trainer Jeff Noske. Not to mention The Lucky Rooster Maiden in Race 2 which wasn’t faulty in its luck with the favourite “Faulty” cleaning up.

“Celebrating the good times are what we are all about at Perth Racing. We offer quality thoroughbred racing and a great environment for our customers. Based on what we’ve seen again today, that’s what thousands of people are experiencing,” said Julian Sullivan, Chief Executive Officer of Perth Racing.

“Crowds enjoyed a family friendly and culturally packed day. It’s been a great event and partnership between our Australia China connections and the support of the Association of Greater China and The Australian Chinese Times,” said Mr Sullivan.
