 FAQs

Where and when will the Fashions on the Field competition be held?
The competition will be held at Ascot Racecourse in the Bookmakers' Pavilion on Crown Perth Winterbottom Stakes Day at Ascot Racecourse. All entrants are required to check in with Perth Racing staff at the registration desk. The registration desk will be open from 10:45am-12:15pm.

How does the competition work?
We will run a heat for the Men's and Women's categories. Each entrant will walk the runway for a panel of 3 judges. The judges will critique and score each entrant on their Spring racewear styling and runway personality. Depending on the number of entrants in a given category, we may announce a series of finalists who will take to the runway for a second time for another round of judging. For each category, there will be a first prize winner, a runner-up and a second runner-up.

Who is on the judging panel?
We will have 3 judges on the panel, with a mix of interests and credentials across fashion, design and styling. On Crown Perth Winterbottom Stakes Day we will have stylist Clare Ryan, Channel 7 presenter Matt Tinney, creative director of Perth label Meraki by Alvin Fernandez and posi vibes influencer Diane Laurance.

What is the judging criteria?
Both categories will be judged on style and originality, attention to detail, interpretation of current fashion trends, grooming and deportment. In keeping with the sophistication of racewear, outfits should avoid excessive skin exposure, short hems and plunging necklines.

What are the prizes?
The winner in each category will receive a sash, a bouquet of flowers, as well as a bespoke prize worth up to $1,000. The runner-up and second-runner up in each category will receive a sash and a bespoke prize.
