Could Miller grab another trifecta

A fortnight ago at Ascot Racecourse in a 72+1100, Simon Miller was able to train the trifecta with It’sarayday beating home Liwa and Seberate. The three will combine again in race 9 at Belmont Park on Saturday in a 72+ 1200m.

It’sarayday was all the rage in that race first-up and he didn’t disappoint. Jockey Patrick Carbery was able to put him in a lovely spot from barrier 1 and the $1.70 favourite proved too good for the field and suggested that he was in for a big preparation.

Three-year-old filly Liwa returned in style, flashing home late in a time of 33.83 for the last 600m to finish second, only 1.4 lengths behind It’sarayday. Liwa has a good record second-up and will be ridden by Troy Turner this time from barrier 2.

Seberate also impressed, cracking 34 seconds for the last 600m also and running into third at a big price. It was a strong performance by the form Victorian who will jump from barrier 1 with Clint Johnston-Porter staying in the saddle.

The stable is in a purple patch of form with 8 winners from 18 starts this month, striking at 45% with a 38% return on investment.
