Keeper Sweet

Staying Sweet is the key

Four-year-old mare Keeper Sweet will be looking to continue her consistent preparation when she steps out in the Ascend Sales Trophies Handicap (1600m) at Ascot Racecourse on Wednesday.

The mare by Gingerbread Man has had seven starts since December last year, finishing in the top three in all of them except one.

From those top three finishes, she has recorded two victories including last start at Ascot in a 54+ 1600m with Chris Parnham in the saddle.

For much of the preparation she has raced on speed and been run down over the concluding stages, however, last start she found herself worse than mid-field and demonstrated an impressive turn of foot to score.

Trainer Jeremy Easthope will get some weight relief with apprentice Jett Stanley taking 3kg off her back, but their tactical choices may be limited having drawn barrier 11 of 12.

With only a few gallopers in work, it’s a great opportunity for Easthope to taste more metro success.
