History awaits in the Kingston Town

The Group 1 Drummond Golf-Kingston Town Classic (1800m) provides an opportunity for history to be created on multiple fronts this Saturday at Ascot Racecourse.

Bob Peters (breeder), William Pike (jockey) and Grant & Alana Williams (trainers) can clean sweep the TabTouch Masters Series which has never occurred previously.

The trio have won the Group 1 Heineken-3 Railway Stakes with Western Empire and the Group 1 Crown Perth-Winterbottom Stakes with Graceful Girl.

Western Empire will jump as the shortest of short-priced favourites on Saturday to provide the trio with the opportunity.

For Peters and the Williams partnership, they can also claim the clean sweep if former Group 1 winner and All-Star Mile winner Regal Power tastes success in the race.

Regal Power is currently second favourite behind Western Empire following an eye-catching performance in the Group 2 Lee Steere Stakes where he finished fourth, clocking the fastest final 600m of the race.

Peters and the Williams stable have formed a formidable combination, winning a host of Perth’s major races, including the Railway Stakes and Champion Fillies Stakes on five occasions, the Kingston Town Classic three times, nine victories in the WA Derby, seven wins in the WA Oaks and three Perth Cup victories.

They have also combined for multiple Group 1 victories in Victoria and tasted Group 1 success in South Australia.

The race will commence at 4.45pm local time with the nine-race program commencing at 12.05pm
