The Velvet King

The Queen returns to Belmont Park

The Velvet Queen has accepted to make her return for Impressive Racing at Belmont Park on Wednesday in the TabTouch Better Your Bet Maiden (1200m).

The full sister to The Velvet King who took his place in the Group 1 Heineken 3-Railway Stakes, has only had the one career start, and finished third behind the talented It’sarayday and The Front Bar.

The form from those two has been franked regularly with It’sarayday already a Listed winner and finishing fourth in the Group 2 WA Guineas and The Front Bar winning four races from her seven starts, including a 66+ against the older horses.

She did it tough on debut, three-wide the entire trip but continued to fight all the way to the line, showing well above average ability.

Sent straight to the paddock after that performance, the filly by Universal Ruler had a trial over 400m and another over 950m which she was able to win on November 15.

She will jump from barrier 10 with Chris Parnham taking the race day ride from Chloe Azzopardi who is now riding in Victoria.

She will not be the only queen in the race, with Uni Queen also accepted in the race and being by Universal Ruler.
