Miss Conteki

Big guns return for Ascot opener

Some of the more promising gallopers in Western Australia will step out as racing returns to Ascot Racecourse this Saturday.

Race 8 (Heineken 3 Handicap 1000m) sees Miss Conteki and Battle Storm return, both looking to add to their already impressive record.

Miss Conteki has now won seven races from her 10 starts, including a run of six in a row last preparation before being beaten in a 78+ 1000 and Listed Beaufine Stakes.

Chris Parnham who has had six rides on the mare by Eurozone for four victories will get back in the saddle, jumping from barrier 5 and carrying 59kg.

Battle Storm, a lightly raced seven-year-old gelding by Statue Of Liberty, has won five races from his 10 career starts and will also resume.

He has only raced four times since the end of 2019, but there is no doubt that he still has an abundance of brilliance to bring to the track.

William Pike will take the ride on the cerise and white galloper from barrier 2 with 58kg.

Racing returns to Ascot Racecourse with a ten-race card commencing at 11.58am local time.
