First Law win at Belmont Park on Saturday 17 June 2020

Law of Pike

Champion Jockey William Pike will ride First Law for the first time at Ascot in the 3yo 0MW (1200m) on Wednesday.

First Law showed ability last preparation for trainer Simon Miller by finishing third in the Listed Fairetha Stakes behind the eventual winner Kallaroo.

The three-year-old gelding by Dalghar has had six starts for a victory and three placings and his recent trial suggests he is in for another good preparation.

The first event at Ascot has only the six runners, but First Law will need to be at his best with Group-placed Dark Assault in the field, emerging galloper Son Son returning, the impressive Sheza Chalmer first-up and Critical Altitude showing ability in his first-two career starts.

Having had more Group 1 success in Victoria on the weekend, Pike has eight rides at Ascot tomorrow.
