Western Temple Winning in Bunbury

Temple chases another Cup

Western Temple is hoping to add another Cup to his resume when he takes his place on Saturday in the Listed Seacorp – Grandstand Cup (1500m) at Ascot Racecourse.

The seven-year-old gelding has found consistent form since joining trainer Peter Fernie and in his last five runs has been able to win the Coolgardie Cup and the Listed Bunbury Stakes.

By Dream Ahead, the female jockeys have been having the success aboard him with Kyra Yuill riding him to victory in the Coolgardie Cup and Jade McNaught able to steer him to victory at Bunbury last start, following the second placing they scored together the start before in the Listed Pinjarra Classic.

While demonstrating that he is the horse to beat, he will have to overcome giving weight to his key rivals as he goes from 55kg to 59kg.

The Fernie team will be hoping for a good day all-round, with Peter’s son Luke Fernie saddling up two runners in the Listed Amelia Park – Perth Stakes (1100m)
