Spritely Star

Five hopes for Peters Investment

Leading breeder and owner, Mr Bob Peters, will have five chances in the Schweppes – Ascot 1000 Guineas (1800m) at Ascot on Saturday.

In what appears to be a very even race this year, the market couldn’t find too much between any of the Peters runners.

Spritely Star leads the way for the cerise and white, the states leading jockey Chris Parnham takes the ride and she comes into the race off a very consistent preparation so far from her three runs.

Fashion Queen will be ridden by Shaun McGruddy, she impressed first-up with a nice win at Bunbury over 1420m to back up her victory at the end of last preparation at the same track and distance.

Pure Devotion also comes into the race off an impressive victory last start, she was able to overpower Lincoln’s Law who has since won to justify that form, she will be ridden by Kyra Yuill.

Patrick Carbery will be hoping to make it three victories in a row for Testing Love, who like Fashion Queen finished her last preparation with a victory and started this new campaign with a victory.

The final runner for the team is Real Passion, she has won two races from her four starts and has drawn an inside barrier with Joseph Azzopardi in the saddle.

While Peters will believe any of his five runners can win the race, they will all be chasing Solaia from the Darren McAuliffe stable which opened as the short-priced favourite following her impressive victory in the Listed Challenge Stakes last start.
