Kementari Ascot Racecourse WAROA Lee Steere Stakes 7 Nov 2020

Former Group 1 winner wants WA purse

Former Group 1 winner Kementari will take his place at Ascot Racecourse on Saturday in the Group 2 WAROA - Lee Steere Stakes over 1400m.

The now six-year-old gelding won the Group 1 Randwick Guineas back in 2018 and has been Group 1 placed on five other occasions.

Trained by James Cummings, Kementari has had two runs in Victoria this spring where he was only beaten a length by Zoutori in the Group 2 Gilgai when ridden by William Pike and then finished fifth at Moonee Valley in the Group 1 Manikato behind last year’s Group 1 Crown-Perth – Winterbottom Stakes winner Hey Doc.

Nominated for the Kirin-Railway Stakes, the Crown Perth-Winterbottom Stakes and the PeopleStart-Kingston Town Classic, Jade McNaught will take the ride this weekend as he looks to upset the locals.

It appears they’re keeping options open for the three Group 1 TABtouch Masters events to see whether he goes for a long or shorter distance based on Saturday’s performance.
