Horseplay guaranteed at Ascot for Crown Perth Opening Day

Ascot Racecourse is blossoming into spring with Crown Perth Opening Day to launch the 2020 Ascot Racing Carnival on Saturday 10 October.

A highlight of the season opener is the new Ascot Fashions on the Field competition hosted by Perth Racing. Ladies, gentlemen and families will have their chance at the title without even having to step on stage. An official event photographer will capture beautifully dressed contestants on the day to be submitted to a judging panel. There are fabulous prizes up for grabs for the winners for each category, including a nomination to the Final of the women’s WA Fashions on the Field Competition November 28 at Ascot Racecourse.

With plenty of free activities to entertain the young and young at heart this family day – patrons can hit the bouncy castles, petting zoo, life-sized games, face painting, family sports challenges and more. There’s even a hobby horse racing tournament for the kids in the Mounting Yard. Guests can enjoy all the live thoroughbred racing over nine races, commencing 12.34pm with the last scheduled at 5.38pm - all the live action is broadcast on SKY Racing.

Perth Racing Managing Director, Professor John Yovich AM, said, “We have a fabulous Ascot Racing Carnival planned, full of great entertainment, hospitality and quality thoroughbred racing. The Crown Perth Opening Day is always a popular day and sets the tone for the rest of the Carnival. The place to be will be - The Chute, a glamourous marquee event to help you kick off Carnival in style or come with the family and picnic on the lawn as kids under 18 are free."

“Ascot is looking wonderful at the moment and our team is in full swing preparing for Crown Perth Opening Day, building some great new bars and areas that will make this Carnival the best one yet. This year expect plenty of colour and horseplay, plus a few surprising reveals along the way,” he added.

Guests can look forward to the variety of new attractions and areas to offer, including The Trophy Room, the stylish new Mumm Champagne Yacht Pop-Up Bar, this season’s new citrus Gin flavours, plus renowned dining options, Flying Colours Restaurant, The Terrace Restaurant and Picnic at Ascot.

Perth Racing Ambassador Grady Wulff said she was excited to launch into the 2020 season of spring racing.  “Spring in Perth is synonymous with Racing and Ascot, and I can’t wait to get outside and enjoy all the hospitality and entertainment action on course,” Ms Wulff said.

Grady will be out and about throughout the Ascot Racing Carnival showcasing the sport of kings, the elegance of racing fashions and take Perth’s fashionistas and entertainment goers behind the scenes this spring in a series of video content pieces.
