A message from Perth Racing about upcoming racedays

As you know Australia and other countries are facing a global crisis due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) which is having a profound impact on the way we live our lives. Like so many organisations, Perth Racing is working through the implications.

We take the health and safety of all our patrons and staff seriously, and our top priority is everyone's health and well-being.

Effective from 16 March 2020, Perth Racing’s scheduled race meetings will be conducted with NO SPECTATORS until further notice in accordance with the directive from Government authorities. All autumn Carnival raceday functions and tickets will be cancelled and we will be contacting all existing customer bookings directly. Limited non-raceday functions will proceed with customers wishing to do so.

Race meetings will continue to be fully broadcast across SKY Racing and its digital platforms, including local Perth Racing broadcast via the Sky Racing Active app.

Only essential Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA), Perth Racing, licensed Trainers or racing representatives, and a restricted number of broadcast and media representatives will be permitted to attend. Owners and Perth Racing Members along with General Admission customers will not be allowed entry.

Ascot Racecourse will be secured by Perth Racing staff to check and allow only approved racing participants to the racecourse.

Annual media accreditations will not be a guarantee of entry to race meetings whilst the Federal Government restrictions remain in place. Authorised media personnel and contractors will be contacted directly to confirm entry conditions and accessibility.

Perth Racing is monitoring the COVID-19 situation and following the frequently updated expert advice of the Australian Government and Western Australian Government.  We are operating under advice from Government authorities and hope the social gathering ban can be contained quickly. However we will keep you informed on timelines as more information comes to hand.

We recommend that all participants and those permitted at Ascot Racecourse follow the health advice from the Department of Health and World Health Organisation taking precautionary measures to respond to the evolving situation regarding the spread of Novel Coronavirus (known as COVID-19).

Health authorities are advising people to be calm and vigilant while going about their normal lives and follow these healthy hygiene habits:

  • Stay home when you are sick and contact your local medical provider/health authority for advice
  • Wash your hands frequently with warm, soapy water for at least 20 seconds
  • Cover your mouth with tissues whenever you sneeze, and discard used tissues in the bin
  • Avoid people who are sick with respiratory symptoms
  • Clean frequently touched surfaces

Thank you in advance for playing your part in keeping everyone safe. Visit www.health.gov.au for the latest COVID-19 advice in Australia.

Perth Racing will keep everyone informed and provide further updates in due course.
