Zephyr Queen has the wind in her sails this preparation
Zephyr Queen won a Westspeed Platinum Handicap race at Belmont Park two weeks ago and, if the Jim Taylor-trained mare reproduces the Punting Form numbers she posted in that event, she will take a lot of beating in Saturday's identically named contest that will kick off the prime program.
Effectively the leader last time out - Nemiroff was four lengths in front going too fast too soon - Zephyr Queen caught the Lindsey Smith-prepared tearaway in the Belmont Park straight and ran on strongly to beat Sir Mambo by one and three-quarter lengths. Zephyr Queen's Punting Form rating of -6.3l was a new personal best by 1.7l and none of her Westspeed Platinum Handicap rivals has a figure close to it. Zephyr Queen has won beyond 1,200 metres three times and her recent numbers over 1,300m and 1,400m are good for this grade of race.
