Crystal Spirit is set to make his Western Australian bow at Belmont Park on Wednesday

Punting Form race reports - Wednesday 8 August

Crystal Spirit is yet to make an official appearance on a Western Australian track but, because Punting Form's analysts do not limit themselves to one Australian state or territory, they are confident Chris Gangemi's newly acquired galloper is the one to beat in the Mrs Mac's Handicap at Belmont Park on Wednesday.

Fifty-three days since his fourth placing in a Moonee Valley three-year-old race over 1,200 metres, Crystal Spirit resumes at Belmont Park over the same trip with top weight in a weaker handicap than he contested on his last start. Twice Crystal Spirit went close to taking out a Saturday race in Victoria last year and he was only five lengths off Cliff's Edge in the Manfred Stakes three starts ago when he jumped at single-digit odds for the Group Three contest over six furlongs. According to Punting Form, Crystal Spirit's two-year personal best is more than five lengths faster than that of his highest credentialed Mrs Mac's Handicap rivals.
