Nordic King was a beaten odds-on favourite at Belmont Park last week but he ran a new Punting Form personal best figure in going down to Altamont and he looks well placed to return to winning ways in Wednesday's Western Racepix Handicap.
Altamont came out of the same race as Nordic King contested on the first day of the Belmont Park winter program and both gallopers were hard-luck stories so, in hindsight, punters were wrong to back the latter into the tomato sauce and allow the former to start at monster odds. Nordic King's last-start Punting Form number is at least 2.8 lengths superior to the last-start figures of his Western Racepix Handicap opponents and he is open to improvement fourth up in his career.
