Orange Strudel finishes third to Denim Pack on Melbourne Cup day.

Under The Radar: Ascot - Wednesday 20 December

Expected weather: Fine and 29 degrees

Expected track rating: Good 4

Rail position: 15m

Race 3: 2.29pm – Amelia Park Lamb Handicap (1,400m) - Bet with TABtouch

6 CITY STAR (TABtouch opening price: $13)

This Jim Taylor-trained 3yo has been competitive to say the least in his last four starts, and was so again when 3L off Klondike Kenny last Wednesday.

Kia Ora Star looks the one, but could be vulnerable first-up. Red Army is another fancy but didn’t beat much last start and suffers from a sticky draw.

With fitness on his side, City Star might just get the better of them.

REPLAY - CITY STAR (3rd) - 13 December 2017 - Race 4 - 1200m - Ascot

Race 4: 3.10pm – Get The TABtouch Handicap (1,800m) - Bet with TABtouch

8 DAISY EXPRESS (TABtouch opening price: $34)

Not in the selections but the books have missed this Mark Bairstow-trained mare.

Ran 1.56.91 for the 1850m at Mt Barker last start. A half-hour prior Time To Hunt ran 1.58.97 for the same trip.

Time To Hunt is a $6 chance in this, while Daisy Express is at the 34 bucks.

One of Senso or Great Again should be beating her, but at $5.50 the place, you could do worse.

REPLAY - DAISY EXPRESS (1st) - 7 December 2017 - Race 2 - 1850m - Mt Barker

Race 8: 5.40pm – Glenroy Chaff Premium Hay Bales Handicap (1,200m) - Bet with TABtouch

11 ORANGE STRUDEL (TABtouch opening price: $14)

Went for a rails run in the straight last Wednesday and didn’t get it, before eventually finishing 3.5L off Santiago Gal.

She’s not often a winner, but there are different formlines all over the place here, and question marks on many.

From gate 2 she should get a cosy run, and might just steal the last of the day.

REPLAY - ORANGE STRUDEL (6th) - 13 December 2017 - Race 8 - 1000m - Ascot
