Race 1 - 12:40pm Get The Tabtouch Maiden (1200 Metres)
THE WINNER
Metal Rain led all of the way and, despite lugging out on straightening again, he held on from the late finishers. Veteran Danny Miller punched home his first city winner for the season.
THE GOOD
Burning Magic ran on strongly once again for fourth after settling well back in the field. She’s a slow maturing filly and isn’t far away from a win.
THE BAD
After being backed from $4.40 into $3.10, favourite Deep Cover finished off reasonably well but punters left the money with the bookmakers.

Burning Magic – 34.66
Race 2 - 1:20pm Awesome Rock Plate (1000 Metres)
THE WINNER
Danes Maree led from start to finish and raced away in the straight to win impressively by over four lengths. It was former Queenslander Skye Bogenhuber’s first metropolitan winner in Western Australia.
THE GOOD
Although being a beaten $1.90 favourite, Arcadia Prince hit the line well for second on debut. The well-bred son of Pierro got caught back in the field before storming home late.
THE BAD
There was plenty of clutter behind the leader and many hard luck stories. Expect a long stewards’ report.

Race 3 - 1:55pm Carbine Club Of Wa Handicap (1000 Metres)
THE WINNER
Zeinite jumped and sat outside of leader Spiritual Eyes before streaking away to win in the straight by 1.5 lengths. The daughter of Due Sasso looks to be back in great form and was found in our ‘Under the Radar’ article at $12.
THE GOOD
Little Miss Mak stuck on well for third and will only get better with runs under her belt.
THE BAD
Sovereign Hall failed to work into the race after drifting significantly in betting from $4.40 to $10 before the race.

Flytego – 33.86
Race 4 - 2:34pm Carbine Club Life Members Handicap (1000 Metres)
THE WINNER
Imperial Venus was re-joined by jockey Matthieu Autier and the combination clicked once again after winning two starts ago impressively on debut. Autier sat on the rail and burst through along the inside of the cutaway to win.
THE GOOD
Cape Lady was a beaten favourite but hit the line strongly for second and will be winning next start. Do not expect any great price.
THE BAD
Akiko was fractious in the barriers and was just a step tardy away which meant she couldn’t take up her front running role and was never really in winning contention. The daughter of Nicconi has a bright future ahead though.

Imperial Venus – 33.62
Race 5 - 3:10pm Carbine Club President Leith Putland Handicap (1000 Metres)
THE WINNER
The best bet on the card saluted comfortably for favourite punters after sitting behind the leader and blazing away in the straight to win.
THE GOOD
Another Vision and Quality Fair both caught the eye when running on strongly from well back to finish in the placings. Watch for both of those at their next respective starts.
THE BAD
The Dankster was backed late into $6.50 but failed to give a kick in the straight.

Another Vision – 32.92
Race 6 - 3:45pm Carbine Club Perth Racing Handicap (2100 Metres)
THE WINNER
What a turn of foot we saw from Danehills Daughter. She was last on the turn and showed exceptional late acceleration to round up the entire field.
THE GOOD
Power Packed and Diplomat Express filled the placings at big odds with sweeping runs from the rear of the field with the eventual winner.
THE BAD
Dagorlad was caught three-wide and battled on to run last, beaten six lengths. Forgive.

Danehills Daughter – 34.74
Race 7 - 4:20pm Carbine Club Congress 2017 - Png Handicap (1400 Metres)
THE WINNER
Nightwatchman turned his form around to win nicely under apprentice Kate Witten. It was an ugly race to watch but Nightwatchman managed come around the field to prevail.
THE GOOD
Something Big flashed home late to run fourth after a smooth run in transit. They now know that this galloper can take a sit and run on.
THE BAD
Jupiter Calling and Through The Glass can both consider themselves unlucky after copping interference in the run. Forgive and back them next start.
FASTEST LAST 600M
Something Big – 35.62
Race 8 - 4:57pm Carbine Club Wa Members Handicap (1300 METRES)
THE WINNER
Pinsson backed up his sensational first up effort with a tough win after sitting outside of the leader in the run. All credit to the horse and trainer Maxine Payne to have him fit second up carrying 59kg.
THE GOOD
Halldora led and was also game to the line but couldn’t go with Pinsson in the straight despite carrying 3kg less than the winner. Via Ring A Rah surprised when running an eye-catching race for fifth at $101.
THE BAD
Venus Ebony looked to have the run of the race behind the two leaders but couldn’t go with the leaders in the straight. She will win an easier provincial class three race.
FASTEST LAST 600M
George ‘N’ Ernie – 34.35
PERFORMANCE OF THE DAY
Danes Maree blitzed the Awesome Rock Plate (1000m) field with a devastating 4.5 length all-the-way win for trainer Brett Pope after he had very little luck on Saturday with his three runners.
