Rokanori eyes off another victory

Emerging three-year-old colt, Rokanori, will be aiming to go back-to-back when he steps out in Race 1 at Ascot Racecourse on Wednesday.

The colt by Awesome Rock, won a trial in September last year and then backed it up with another strong trial performance in January.

Following that trial, the galloper trained by Grant Williams jumped as the $3.30 favourite on debut and was able to win comfortably.

He was put in a forward position by jockey Paul Harvey, sitting outside the leader and proving too strong over the concluding stages of the 1200m event.

Second-up on Wednesday, he will now be ridden by Chris Parnham and will stretch out to 1400m which looks ideal for youngster.

Up against only five other runners, the biggest threats appear to be Celevacci from the Adam Durrant stable, Black Fantasy from the Pearce stable and Factory Made who is trained by Dion Luciani.

Race 1 will start at 2.54pm local time, with the last of the seven-race program commencing at 6.30pm.
