Leading trainer Adam Durrant will saddle up three-year-old filly Sparkling Blue at Ascot Racecourse on Wednesday in the Amelia Park Lodge Handicap over 1200m.
The filly by Foxwedge has only had the one start but made an impression when winning by 1.8 lengths over 1300m at Belmont.
Durrant mentioned post-race that he had a good opinion of the filly which is evident by her nominations in the Group 2 Sky Racing-WA Guineas (1600m) and the Group 1 Drummond Golf Kingston Town Classic (1800m).
Having won on debut over 1300m, the 1200m may be a little short for her first-up but it will be a good steppingstone for her aspirations this preparation.
She will meet horses in good form including Electric Rose which is a last start winner, Safety Fuse and Cross Statement, who are all much more suited over 1200m.
Durrant will also saddle up Fashion Queen in race 6 which comes into the race off a confidence boosting victory at Geraldton.
