Outspoken Lad

Cornering the Three-Year-Olds

The training partnership of Daniel and Ben Pearce will go with a two-pronged attack in the Three-Year-Old No Metro Wins Last Year (1300m) at Belmont Park on Wednesday.

In a six-horse field, the Pearce stable will saddle up last start winner OutSpoken Lad and runner-up from the same race Black Fantasy.

Outspoken Lad was strong on debut, sitting in a forward position, carrying 60kg with William Pike in the saddle, the gelding by Awesome Rock let down strongly and was able to beat the stable mate by 2.7 lengths.

While it looks tough for Black Fantasy to turn the tables on his stablemate, the gelding by Blackfriars does get a 1.5kg swing in the weights.

The pair appeared to relish the Soft7 conditions on debut, but we had seen in prior trials that they may be even better suited back on top of the ground.

The Pearce stable only have one other runner throughout the day, Love Drunk Baby in race 8 who was also a last start winner.
