Baron Bostock (yellow and light blue colours) defeated Essential Spice in one of Belmont Park's highest-rating races last year

Punting Form race reports: Saturday 25 January

Baron Bostock is not the safest of punting conveyances but his best is very good indeed and, if he could reproduce something close to his performance that took care of Essential Spice at Belmont Park in June, he would have an excellent chance of winning Saturday's TABtouch Westspeed Platinum Handicap.

According to Punting Form, Baron Bostock's two-year personal best, which he posted in beating Essential Spice over 1,200 metres, is several lengths superior to the equivalent figures of his TABtouch Westspeed Platinum Handicap rivals. Daniel Morton has elected not to trial Baron Bostock ahead of his return and it may be the gelding is a fresh proposition because he has experienced issues throughout his career that have resulted in his results being inconsistent.
