50 People Who Made The WATC - Bob Peters

Bob Peters is synonymous with Western Australian thoroughbred racing by virtue of his phenomenal breeding operation, which he has spent the best part of 50 years building from scratch, and the on-track triumphs of its produce but often overlooked are his contributions as an administrator.

Peters served 18 years on the Committee of the Western Australian Turf Club from 1975 to 1992, including two seasons as its Vice Chairman and two seasons as its Chairman. Peters represented the WATC on a range of bodies, including WA's Totalisator Agency Board, and he was instrumental in the creation of what we know today as the Kingston Town Classic.

Ironically, no Peters-owned galloper has won the RJ Peters Stakes since it was renamed in his honour 20 years ago. Peters is a WATC life member.
