Gillespie is well placed in Wednesday's Amelia Park Handicap at Belmont Park

Punting Form race reports: Wednesday 19 June

Gillespie rises in class on Wednesday at Belmont Park but, according to Punting Form, his last start in a lower grade produced a very high rating and the form looks like stacking up based on the events of last weekend at the same track.

Handicapped with 60 kilograms first up in the Iron Jack Handicap two weeks ago at Belmont Park, Gillespie set an extremely fast tempo for a Class One affair and, while he gave way to Baron Bostock and Essential Spice in the straight, he posted excellent numbers and the two gallopers which beat him ran well on Saturday. Gillespie's two-year Punting Form personal best is at least two lengths better than any of his unscratched Amelia Park Handicap opponents, he maps well from one of the inside gates and his jockey, Lee Newman, is riding full of confidence.
