2017 Winner Annabel Davy of Mosman Park, took out the 2019 Ladies Category first prize with a stunning combination of well-coordinated textures and black & white accessories

Fashions on the Field a crowd pleaser at Ascot for Amelia-Park Karrakatta Plate Day

The kids stole the show at Perth Racing’s Fashions on the Field at Ascot today, proving that pint-sized fashionistas can indeed upstage the adults.

With a backdrop of thundering thoroughbreds and a trackside marquee location, this year’s 2019 Fashions on the Field was well frequented by both contestants and spectators alike.

Judges had an extremely tough job with the seven family entries going to great efforts to coordinate and style their amazing race-wear ensembles. After much deliberation, judges awarded top honours to the McDonald family of East Victoria Park, naming them the winners of the Family Fashions on the Field category at Ascot.

Now in its fifth year, this year’s competition was again exceptionally tough in both the male and female categories, with judges commenting upon how much effort contestants had gone to, to finely-tune their race day look.

2017 Winner Annabel Davy of Mosman Park, took out the 2019 Ladies Category first prize with a stunning combination of well-coordinated textures and black & white accessories, whist Aus Molan from Darch, was the Men’s Category first prize winner, combining classic navy and white racewear, topped with a dapper panama.

Contestants all brought a strong sense of individual styling to the catwalk with a range of deep autumnal colours dominating many outfits.   Judges Lissy Graham, Katie Roberts, Bryan Smith, Juvelle Berendof and 92.9’s Ryan Jon all added their own glamour and style to the occasion on a picture-perfect autumn day at Ascot.

Perth’s Autumn Racing Carnival continues next week with Schweppes WATC Derby Day offering racegoers another reason to dress-up, this time with a black and white theme. Winx will race LIVE from Randwick Racecourse, for what may be her last run, and punters are encouraged to stay until after the last, then kick-back and watch the West Coast Eagles and Fremantle Dockers play LIVE on the Ascot SuperScreen in the other Derby of the day.

This year’s Ladies category attracted 38 entrants, Men’s Category 11 entries and 9 Family entrants.
