Dropping back to 1,000 metres should suit two-time winner Specialism

Punting Form race reports: Saturday 15 December

The AJ Scahill Stakes Day card at Ascot Racecourse will kick off with the Heineken Plate over 1,000 metres and it looks like a good opportunity for Specialism to bounce back to winning ways for her connections, including Paul Jordan, Craig Staples and Colin Brown, the Chair of Perth Racing.

Specialism is one of three Heineken Plate entrants which has race experience and it will take a very smart debut to lower her colours for the second time in three starts. Specialism did not find either the lead or the rail two weeks ago when a promising newcomer, Jericho Missile, inflicted her first defeat but, while several of the debutants have looked good in their respective trials, none of them has screamed back me to beat the grey filly. Specialism's Punting Form numbers are excellent for early two-year-old races in Perth and she maps as getting to the front over what is probably her best distance currently. On- and off-course punters can get off to a flying start by supporting Specialism in the opener.
