Dark Prospect (black and white colours, including checked cap) appears to have gone to another level in his third preparation

Punting Form race reports: Saturday 8 September

The Metal West Recycling Handicap is the most even betting contest on Saturday's Belmont Park program and, according to Punting Form, only one galloper goes into it off their best performance in the last two years and that is Dark Prospect, which is set for his second run in his third campaign under Steven Parnham.

Yet to miss the top three in five Belmont Park appearances and suited by a track on the soft side of good, Dark Prospect made a pleasing return over 1,400 metres last month when he chased home Peppijack, recording the fastest late sectionals and registering a new Punting Form peak. Dark Prospect steps up to 1,600m on Saturday and that is a distance over which he won in midweek grade during his late summer, early autumn preparation. Admittedly, Saturday's event is the highest class race that Dark Prospect has contested but Punting Form's data suggests he is more than capable of playing a major role in the finish.
