Night Voyage (orange and white hoops) could be set for his third win in Western Australia since joining Martin Allan from Bjorn Baker

Punting Form race reports: Wednesday 20 June

Martin Allan picked up Night Voyage from Bjorn Baker this time last year and the Ascot-based trainer could send out the gelding to win his third race on Western Australian turf when he contests Wednesday's Salinger Handicap at Belmont Park.

Night Voyage did not trial before resuming over 1,190 metres at Narrogin in April so he is entitled to improve as his preparation continues. Night Voyage won over 1,200m at Kalgoorlie third up and he caught the eye behind Undisclosed and Ambiente over 1,000m at Belmont Park a couple of Saturdays ago. Night Voyage did not have the clearest of runs in the Belmont Park straight but, according to Punting Form, he recorded the fastest 200m, 400m and 600m sectionals of a Saturday race in a performance that rated faster than the class benchmark. Night Voyage drops in grade and, because he achieved his two-year Punting Form personal best over 1,630m at Doomben, it is fair to think he will appreciate stepping up to 1,300m with TABradio personality Ryan Hill on his back.
