2017 Fashion on the Field winner Bernadette May is amongst this year's judges

Group 2 Good Times continues this Saturday at the Amelia Park-Karrakatta Plate Day

The second day of the 2018 Ascot Autumn Carnival kicks off this Saturday featuring the prestigious Group 2 Amelia Park-Karrakatta Plate feature race, where aspiring two year olds contest the $500k prize purse.

But that’s not the only contest at Ascot, as Perth’s finest fillies, gents and families will battle it out in the Autumn Fashions on the Field judging from 12:30.

The Autumn Fashions on the Field judges will look for inspired seasonal dressing, great use of colour and race day styling and will award winners with some great prizes valued over $15,000.

“Fashions on the Field are now synonymous with great race days and we’ve seen interest and participant numbers grow year on year, since we hosted the first Autumn Fashions on the Field in 2015,” according to Perth Racing’s General Manager Commercial & Marketing Louise Ardagh.

“As we change season and the weather gets slightly cooler, Fashion on the Field entrants embrace the difference, styling their looks with jackets, Autumn inspired accessories and a completely different look to Spring Racing, “ Ms Ardagh said.

“Autumn Fashions on the Field is a great spectator event too. Every year we see some amazing looks and can appreciate the lengths many have gone to - to finesse their outfits”

This year Perth Racing is opening the competition up to include a family Fashions on the Field category, where families can take to the catwalk and show how mum, dad and the kids look ‘race-day ready.’

“Our family Fashions on the Field competition is not too serious and hopefully a little bit of fun for those families coming out to Ascot for the Amelia Park-Karrakatta Plate Day. To make all that effort worthwhile, we’re offering CROWN and IFLY vouchers valued at $1000 for the lucky winners,” Ms Ardagh said.

Registrations are open on Perth Racing’s website for the men’s and women’s Fashions on the Field events, while entries in this year’s new family category will only be accepted at Ascot Racecourse on Saturday before 12 noon.

The first local race on Amelia Park-Karrakatta Plate Day is scheduled to go under starter’s orders at 12:29pm, with the eighth and final Ascot Racecourse event programmed to jump at 5:05pm.
