A great crowd came out to watch the last Australian Group 1 sprint for the year in the 1200m weight for age Crown Perth Winterbottom Stakes. Adelaide jockey Joe Bowditch has had a great run this Carnival campaign, and today secured Viddora’s first Group One win at Crown Perth Winterbottom Stakes, the second of three $1,000,000 Group One races in the TABtouch Masters.

Channel Seven racing expert Francesca Cumani, host of CNN’s Winning Post and Ambassador for Magic Millions was a special guest judge at the Country Cups ‘Fashions on the Field’ Final, where contenders battled it out for their chance to win a trip for two to Royal Ascot in the UK.

“A new initiative showcasing some of the best of WA’s quality produce and wines was big hit as racegoers tasted their way through the best that the Great Southern has to offer, whilst watching some of the Country’s best thoroughbreds here at Ascot, he said.”

Guests grazed their way through yummy regional produce and wines; watched cooking demonstrations and enjoyed a great range of stalls including Gourmet Gateway, Sublime Spices, local wines, Golden Whisk, yummy cheeses from Charli G's Dairy Emporium, 3 drops olive oils, Vino Foods, Mt Barker Chicken and Plantagenet Pork.

The day was full of action and live music with musicians Monty Cotton and Trio performing  onstage near the new Kirin Club - Pavilion Bar, and popular music act Scizzorman live at Stone Motherless Bar. Guests enjoyed an array of experiences including oysters in the Mumm Champagne Garden, frozen Rose, local wines, lawn games and the opportunity to have raceday outfits captured for free with MP Illustrations.
