Cup Day Good Times - Delivered

Despite temperatures soaring into the mid-30’s, Ascot delivered on its good times claim, hosting more than 18,000 people on course for the 2017 Melbourne Cup.

Ascot patrons were at the course early to claim their spot on the grass, in shaded gardens, under trackside umbrellas or in air-conditioned ticketed events dotted throughout the course.

According to a Perth Racing spokesperson, Melbourne Cup sales at Ascot were very strong this year and the range of hospitality options meant there was a Melbourne Cup day experience to suit everyone.

“Our Members’ restaurant and corporate suites always sell very well on major Carnival Days, but this year our other ticketed events were also very popular.”

“Because we have lots of Melbourne Cup hospitality options on course, there’s always lots of people and a great atmosphere at Ascot.  Add to that, the big race beamed in from Melbourne, fashion shows and live racing all through the afternoon, your day out is pretty complete,” the spokesperson said.

Perth Racing’s Carnival season continues with Champion Fillies Race day on November 18 and then Ascot gets ready to host Perth’s own Racing Carnival - The TABtouch Masters from November 25.

In its second year The TABtouch Masters will again deliver world-class Group One racing over three successive Saturdays ending December 9.

Last year’s inaugural edition of The TABtouch Masters saw interstate and international horses, jockeys and trainers make the journey westward to compete in Perth’s three $1,000,000 Group One races.

The headline acts of The TABtouch Masters – the James Boag’s Premium-Railway Stakes on November 25, the Crown Perth-Winterbottom Stakes on December 2 and the Magic Millions-Kingston Town Classic on November 9 are Australia’s last three Group One races of the year.

“Perth people will be treated to seriously good racing on these three Saturdays,” a Perth Racing spokesperson said.
