Under the Radar: WAROA Belmont Guineas Day - Saturday 24 June

Race 1 - 11:53AM TABTOUCH PLATE (1300 METRES) – FULL FIELD

11. THUNDERSTRUT

TABtouch opening price: $14

The daughter of Choisir has always shown a fair bit of promise after racing well in the first two-year-old event of the season behind Achernar Star.

Her two trials leading into this preparation were very good but was trapped wide first up and forced to work in the 1000m affair won by Cognac.

Out to 1300m, with the good draw of three and the apprentice’s weight relief down to 51kg, the $120,000 yearling purchase from Dawson Stud looks to be suited.

Here is Thunderstrut’s sharp trial leading into this preparation (purple with red sleeve and yellow cap):

Race 4 - 1:53PM SCHWEPPES HANDICAP (1600 METRES) – FULL FIELD

1. STOCKS

TABtouch opening price: $19

$19 for a Listed winner which went on to run within four lengths of Railway Stakes winner Scales Of Justice and within three lengths of Chocolate Holic is a generous price.

The three runs so far this preparation would have primed him fitness-wise for this fourth up assault over the suitable 1600m trip.

The Farnley Stakes winner from last year has won and run second over 1600m from two attempts over the distance and, with rain about, has only every missed the placings twice from eight attempts in soft going.

Fred Kersley claims 3kg off the top weight and an improved performance at big odds is expected.

Watch the son of Exceed And Excel run on gamely last start behind War God after being trapped three-wide (blue and pink colours with black sleeves):

Race 5 - 2:28PM LAVAZZA HANDICAP (1000 METRES) – FULL FIELD

12. DIAMOND PRINCESS

TABtouch opening price: $11

In what is a weak race, three-year-old Diamond Princess comes into the fold beautifully with only 54.5kg on her back.

She is a noted frontrunner and has drawn perfectly in barrier three after getting trapped three-wide in three-year-old grade last start behind Scalpel.

The daughter of Oratorio did plenty of work in the run and pulled up with sore hind legs, which is probably why she finished seven lengths last.

Watch her effort two starts back when just grabbed by Fair Nakita (cerise and black with green sleeves):
