Under the Radar: Hyperion Stakes Day at Belmont - Saturday 17 June

Race 2 - 12:33PM PERTH RACING YOUNG MEMBERSHIP HANDICAP (1600 METRES) – FULL FIELD

3. RICH RED

TABtouch opening price: $26

The Paul Jordan-trained Rich Red is one that comes out of the “forgive file”.

The son of Red Hot Choice pulled up with a slightly elevated heart rate after a seemingly disappointing ninth of 11 at Northam last start.

He never travelled into the race on that occasion so excuses can be made out of the WA Day Cup over 1600m.

The start prior at Belmont in the Heineken 3 Handicap (1600m) against the other three-year-olds, he was desperately unlucky when chopped out for a run in the straight behind No Say In It.

Rich Red warrants a little bet at big odds.

5. DARK MUSKET

TABtouch opening price: $10

Dark Musket finds himself flying “Under the Radar” once again after just an ok run last start behind the in-form My Magic Miss.

His run wasn’t bad and he did have excuses like having to wait in his barrier for a long time while Senso’s saddle was being adjusted.

The son of Musket only battled to the line but the addition of blinkers should help him find a few lengths which could see him turn the tables on My Magic Miss.

Race 4 - 1:53PM KIRIN MEGUMI HANDICAP (1200 METRES) – FULL FIELD

1. MAD BRAD

TABtouch opening price: $9.50

Mad Brad opened up at a handy each-way price considering he meets a much weaker field compared to the opposition he met first and second up.

The first up run behind Red Paddy was good when he got going late and was only narrowly beaten to the line by State Solicitor.

Second up, he was desperately unlucky along the inside and was untested to the line.

With any luck in running, and despite carrying top weight, he should certainly be finishing in the top three.

Watch last start when he had absolutely no luck along the rail (red with blue sleeves and gold cap):
