Under the Radar: Belmont Sprint Day - Saturday 3 June

Race 4 - 1:53PM AMELIA PARK HANDICAP (1200 METRES) - FULL FIELD

7. INVINCIBLE WARRIOR

TABtouch opening price: $41

Invincible Warrior has understandably opened up at a long price but the well-bred son of I Am Invincible is worth a punt at the long odds.

The gelding won impressively on debut back on Wednesday 29 September in 2016 before running last behind Viking Forrest when found to be lame after the race.

Last start when beaten by Dainty Tess, he travelled into the race as if he would give it a good shake but his wheels just seemed to spin when asked to accelerate.

It was a soft track on that day so maybe he didn’t handle the shifty surface.

Forgive him for that and have something on at the long odds.

Here he is winning on debut last year (blue and yellow silks):

2. BORDER SCOT

TABtouch opening price: $14

The each-way price about Border Scot is one worth considering after a slashing last start second behind Mr Motown.

The son of Metaldale will get the dream run from barrier four and boasts an outstanding second up record of five starts for two wins and a placing.

Staying at 1000m suits the rig ideally and trainer Paige Kenney is currently in the middle of a hot streak.

Watch the eye-catching effort last start behind Mr Motown (blue and white silks):

5. DARK MUSKET

TABtouch opening price: $9

The Group One-placed Dark Musket returns to his favourite track of Belmont Park after having five tune-up runs at Ascot.

The son of Musket was unlucky not to finish closer two starts ago after getting impeded in the straight before only battling away last start after getting too far back in running.

Back to Belmont, where his record reads 13 starts for three wins and five placings, is a big positive as it is the scene of his greatest success on a racetrack as he won the 2015 Listed Belmont Classic, which was also over 2200m.

The last time he raced at Belmont over 2200m this happened (light blue and maroon checkers and maroon cap):
