The Latest Edition

While dual black type winner Malibu Style is kicking goals over east, his two-year-old half-sister named Edition won a trial at Belmont on Monday 1 May, over 1000m.

Trained by Neville Parnham, Edition is by Group One-winning stallion Duporth and out of unraced Fusaichi Pegasus mare Origami.

Duporth won the last Group Two running of the Golden Rose (1400m) in 2008, at Rosehill, as the race was upgraded the following year to hold premier Group One status and become known as a stallion-making race for three-year-old colts.

He also managed to grasp Group One glory in the 2009 BTC Cup (1200m), at Doomben, when beating other Group One victors Bank Robber, Apache Cat, Absolute Glam, Swiss Ace and Railway Stakes-Kingston Town double winner Sniper’s Bullet.

As mentioned previously, Origami is also the dam of Listed RS Crawford Stakes (1000m) and Listed Bel Esprit Stakes (1100m) winner Malibu Style, which is trained by Parnham as well.

After jumping brilliantly from her inside draw in the five furlong trial, Edition led under Neville’s son Brad Parnham and was never headed, clocking a reasonable time of 1:02.66 in a six-runner field.

There is plenty of improvement to come for the bay filly however, after looking to race keenly in the middle stages of the trial.

Edition was purchased by Premium Bloodstock for $30,000 at the Magic Millions 2016 Perth Yearling Sale from vendor Yarradale Stud.

Keep an eye out for her on debut, a milestone that is likely to come up very soon.
