ICYMI: Another upset in the Oaks but not for Peters

Both owned by Peters Investments, second favourite Very Tempting held off a strong challenge from stablemate and $1.35 chance
Royal Star to win the $250,000 Group Three Kirin-Megumi WA Oaks.

It was reminiscent of the 2016 edition when $20 shot First Impressions was ridden by Glenn Smith to victory by over the more fancied stablemate Arcadia Dream, which was guided by William Pike.

Both of those were also owned by Peters Investments.

Pike was on the receiving end of defeat once again even though, according to punters, Royal Star was seemingly unbeatable.

With thanks to a bit of luck in running, Very Tempting (partnered by Chris Parnham) managed to just fall in and hold off her chasing stablemate.

Both trained by Grant and Alana Williams, the fillies will back-up into the $400,000 Group Two Schweppes-WATC Derby and face their male counterparts on Saturday 8 April, a week after the three-year-old fillies classic.
